Expanding our Reach for Sustainability
Our commitment to sustainability isn’t just a mission; it’s a shared responsibility towards our planet. At Otter Products, we’ve embraced this responsibility by implementing tangible steps to minimize our environmental footprint and enhance our stewardship. These initiatives stem not from obligation, but from a genuine belief in doing what’s right.
In House
Internally, we’ve prioritized actions within our own facilities as a starting point. Through a comprehensive assessment, we’ve identified areas where we can reduce waste across the board, from our breakrooms to our warehouses and boardrooms. For instance, our distribution centers now recycle over 80% of their scrap materials, diverting more than 500,000 pounds from landfills in 2023.
Moreover, we’ve taken strides to reduce our battery and electronic waste by participating in the national Call2Recycle steward program. Through our partnership with Call2Recycle, our products can be dropped off at any of the Call2Recycle retail locations (hyperlink). Stations within all our buildings accept various items, from power products to basic AA batteries to even the latest iPhone models, which are then responsibly recycled or reused.
in product
Nearly half of the plastics used in our popular products are now sourced from recycled materials.
By the end of 2023, we anticipate repurposing over 4.6 million pounds of recycled content, significantly reducing carbon emissions compared to virgin plastic processing.
When it comes to packaging, we’ve reimagined our retail packaging to minimize plastic usage and ensure recyclability. Our redesigned packaging not only reduces waste but also optimizes shipping efficiency, ultimately lowering delivery emissions.
Looking ahead, our journey towards sustainability is ongoing. There’s no final destination; rather, it’s a continuous effort to innovate and improve. We remain committed to exploring new avenues for sustainability, striving to operate smarter, leaner, and greener—for ourselves and for future generations.
